This week in English, children have continued to explore the book ‘Atlas of Adventure’. They have finished their own non-fiction book on the continent of Asia - they really can’t wait to share it with you. We also found out more information about our new text, ‘The Tiger Who Came For Tea’.
We have been working on arrays. How many columns and rows we have, and how many this makes altogether.
In Art, we made our boats! We have a Year 1 Armada!
We have filled our classes with a song that we will share with you soon.
We talked about Sinbad and where we sailed.
Our weekly talk time helps develop an oracy skill. We have now introduced all our sentence stems for the term and will be working on how to use them.
This week’s Talk Time topic is: Should everyone learn more than one language?
Please continue to bring in any note linked to this topic so the children can share in class.
We will collect books each Sunday and give out new ones. Please keep books in your child’s bag so we can read with them in school. Reading should be recorded at home in the PO each day.

Use this link to access Maths Passport. In the PO you will find which country your child should be working on. We will assess children on these passports regularly.
When you have done this each week with your child, please make a note in your child’s PO.
Please keep reading at home, and sign in the P.O. every day so your child continues to make great progress in reading.
Please see the Google class and here for more information on supporting your child at home with phonics.
Wednesday, 10 June 2026 - Open morning
We have noticed an increase in students wearing their own trainers to school so please remember that on school days, black footwear (shoes or trainers) should be worn. Long hair should also be tied up. Stud earrings can be worn, but bracelets, necklaces and other earrings must not be worn to school.
If a child is wearing a religious necklace please inform us via the Primary Office for approval. If approved, ensure it is tucked into shirts for health and safety reasons.
Please pack healthy lunches for your children, and note that we have nut allergies in the year group so no snacks should be sent containing nuts.

Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
