We have discovered the lay-out and language features of a newspaper article. We have also practised using all the punctuation rules associated with direct speech and learned how to convert this to indirect speech.
We have started a new topic of length and perimeter. We have learned how to convert between metres and kilometres and have been using trundle wheels and metre sticks to measure various lengths around the school.
We learned several new skills that we will use on our residential camp including field sketching, directional work, and perhaps, most importantly, how to put up a tent!
We have been learning about evaporation and planned a Fair test to investigate how temperature affects the rate of evaporation.
We created our prints inspired by Hokusai
We looked at how our bodies react to the emotion of anger.

Reading - Please read for 20 minutes per day and record this in your P.O. Please record the book title and page numbers and ask an adult to sign it . For this activity, your child should be reading their book from the reading room with a colour level.
Spelling - Spelling lessons are on Tuesday and this is when your child will receive a list of words to learn. Please practise these at home, ready for your test the following Tuesday. You can use some of the ideas on the Spelling Grid attached to help you to learn these words.

Our ‘Year 4 Library’ inspired by Shonibare is now complete. Thank you for all your support in bringing it to fruition.
Please ensure that your child has a Chromebook ready for use when we start back in Term 2. If you have any queries regarding the specifications required for this device, please contact Chris Bate by sending a message to the Primary Office.
Please can you remind your child to bring school shoes to change into after their PE lesson and a gentle reminder that the school uniform policy is black socks for boys and white socks for girls.
On Mondays and Wednesdays the children in Year 4 have PE lessons and can wear their PE to school. They must bring their uniform to change into after their PE lesson, this includes bringing their school shoes to change into after the PE lesson.
On Sunday, they have swimming and should wear their uniform to school, not their PE kit.
Please label all of your uniform, PE kit, swimming kit and water bottle
Please click here for the Y4 Curriculum Newsletter for Term 2
If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
We have created WhatsApp groups for parents to know about urgent messages or reminders. Email will continue to be the main form of communication. Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
