This week we are finishing off writing an ending to our narrative story - they have been great fun to write and we are looking forward to reading the different endings and sharing our ideas.
We are continuing to work on fractions, decimals and percentages.
The rest of the short week is focusing on our DT project - building out interwar houses - lots of “wallpapering” is being carried out! It is great to see so many creative ideas being carried out and the children have been enthusiastically making furniture out of both wood and cardboard to decorate their houses.
All that remains is to wish you a restful and peaceful Spring Break and travel safely if doing so. We look forward to welcoming the children back on the 19th April.
Thursday, 23rd April - Culture Fair
Students are encouraged to attend school in traditional attire or colours/clothing to represent their nationality as we celebrate our diverse community. The day will feature specialised activities centered on culture and identity, including a scheduled visit to the Culture Fair in the sports hall. For those wishing to purchase refreshments or cultural items, a maximum of 5 OMR is permitted.
Reading - please continue to encourage your children to read over the Spring Break
Spelling and Maths - These will continue as normal after the holiday.
What to wear:
Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on PE days and swimming days, and regular school uniform on non PE days - their timetable has been stuck in their Personal Organiser and can also be found on the Google classroom.
On Mondays we have swimming, please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit//uniform and brings their swim kit in a separate waterproof bag. Please make sure all swimming items are clearly labelled with your child's name.
Water Bottles and hats: Please label everything. Some children have the same water bottles and hats as others and they often get lost.
We have noticed an increase in students wearing their own trainers to school so please remember that on school days, black footwear (shoes or trainers) should be worn. Long hair should also be tied up. Stud earrings can be worn, but bracelets, necklaces and other earrings must not be worn to school.
If a child is wearing a religious necklace please inform us via the Primary Office for approval. If approved, ensure it is tucked into shirts for health and safety reasons.
Email: We welcome communication from parents. If you would like to contact your child’s class teacher about any matter, then you can do so by writing a note in the PO, or for more complex queries please send an email to the school office, and this will be passed onto the correct member of staff. Please note, all emails should be sent via the primary office and not directly to teachers; this ensures that your query can be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Please click here for the Y6 Curriculum Newsletter for Term 2
If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
We have created WhatsApp groups for parents to know about urgent messages or reminders. Email will continue to be the main form of communication. Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
