We have completed an air resistance investigation. The children had a wonderful time making and testing their parachutes. They were also able to discuss the effects the size and shapes of canopies had on the air resistance whilst relating the effects to gravity’s pull.
We completed our unit on area and perimeter. We look forward to studying statistics after the break.
We compared Muscat and York in terms of their physical and human geography.
We created our Viking clay tiles using different tools and techniques from our designs. They look incredible! We will paint them after the break.
Thursday, 23rd April - Culture Fair
Students are encouraged to attend school in traditional attire or colours/clothing to represent their nationality as we celebrate our diverse community. The day will feature specialised activities centered on culture and identity, including a scheduled visit to the Culture Fair in the sports hall. For those wishing to purchase refreshments or cultural items, a maximum of 5 OMR is permitted.
No homework will be set over the holidays. We recommend that you continue to read regularly over the break. There are also a number of websites you can access to practise your skills:
MyMaths
TTRS
Oddizzi
Read Theory
The children have been working hard to complete their charity book bingo. Please return completed book bingo sheets and money to your teachers next week. We look forward to sharing how much we have made!
Please click here for the Y5 Curriculum Newsletter for Term 2
If your child is unwell, leaving early or coming late please complete the Absence Form and the class teacher will be informed.
Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
We have created WhatsApp groups for parents to know about urgent messages or reminders. Email will continue to be the main form of communication. Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
