In Maths lessons this week we have started our new topic on fractions. The children have learned about parts and wholes and how to identify equal parts and 1./2 of shapes.
In English lessons this week we have read a non-fiction book about Samuel Pepys, who wrote a diary sharing the events of the Great Fire of London. We revised the features of non-fiction texts (the contents page, glossary and index) and found the answers to questions in the text. We have also been working on splitting our writing into sentences and editing and improving our writing
In Science this week we have continued our topic about materials, We have been testing different materials to see which materials would make the fastest road for a toy car.
In Art this week we linked our learning to geography and the Great Fire of London by creating sketches of the Tower of London. We have been practising sketching lightly and using backwards-forwards sketching.
In Humanities we have been looking at the difference between London before the fire and London now
In PSHE we have been learning about the importance of healthy food.

Please make sure your child brings a hat to school everyday in their schoolbag.
Please remember to label everything your child brings to school, including water bottles, lunch bags and swim kits. This will help us reunite any missing items with your child.

Please can we request that all children come to school on the day of their swimming lessons with the following equipment:
Swim Uniform in accordance with guidelines.
Swim hats for those with long hair. ALL hats must be secure on the head with no risk of slipping down over the face.
Goggles
Towel
Pool shoes (crocs or equivalent)
A waterproof bag to carry everything in.
Please see our Swimwear Guidelines on the website.
Please do not wear 'swim uniform' into school for hygiene reasons. Please do not wear an alternative gym or running kit for swimming lessons. It's important to use only 'Swim Uniform' and the recommendations listed above in the pool, as other fabrics become incredibly heavy when wet.
