Next Year: New Classes and Leavers

It is at this time of the year that our team plans the classes and groupings for the coming year. This takes account of the academic, pastoral and social needs of each individual student. 

With this in mind, it is very helpful that we do this with an understanding of which students will be returning in August. To help us to help the students, please can I ask that if you will be leaving BSM at the end of this term you complete this form. 

Message from the health centre

A friendly reminder that our school operates a strict no-nuts policy to help keep all members of our community safe, particularly those with severe nut allergies. Please do not send any food items containing nuts, including peanut butter, nut-based snacks, chocolates containing nuts or products that list nuts as an ingredient.We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students and staff.

Staying Safe in the Heat ☀️

With temperatures across Oman particularly high at the moment, we want to reassure families that the health, safety and wellbeing of our students remain our highest priority. Our Hot Weather Policy is in place and a number of measures are being implemented to minimise exposure to the heat, including indoor break areas, shaded transitions and regular hydration reminders.

Children can become dehydrated surprisingly quickly in hot weather, so we encourage all students to bring a labelled water bottle each day, drink regularly even when not feeling thirsty, start the day well hydrated and choose water over sugary or caffeinated drinks.

Signs of dehydration can include headaches, dizziness, tiredness, irritability, dry lips and difficulty concentrating. Our qualified nursing team is on site throughout the school day and is fully equipped to assess and manage any heat-related concerns promptly. Any student who feels unwell should inform a member of staff immediately and will be referred to the Health Centre for care.

Y6 Moving Up Week

Sunday, 21 - Wednesday, 24 June

Our Y6 students are looking forward to joining Senior School for Moving Up Week. This is an exciting opportunity for students to experience life as a Year 7 student and we would like to thank all the staff in the Senior School for creating this valuable experience for your children.

Pitch for My Plight Final - Congratulations

This is an amazing project in Year 6 where students think carefully about global and local issues linked to sustainability. It was inspirational listening to Wilf, Sukaina, Maryam, Ayra, Eabha, Edwin share their innovative ideas and their learnings.  

We would like to congratulate every member of Y6 - as each student took part in this project and presented to teachers and staff from across the whole school about their pitch. Having such creative, socially responsible and aware students makes us incredibly proud to be a part of BSM. We would like to thank our guest judges (Ms Looker: a marine biologist, Ms Al Lawati: a marine scientist and Mr Turner: working in marine construction and engineering) for giving up their time to engage with his powerful work. As always, huge thanks to our teachers and support staff for making the magic happen.

Islamic New Year Holiday - Tomorrow

Thursday 18 June 

Thursday 18 June will be a holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year.  BSM follows all national holidays and so we will be closed on this day. School will resume on Sunday 21 June 2026. Please see the Term Dates page of the BSM website to view the full academic calendar.

Y6 End of Year Performance

What a wonderful performance from our superstars in Year 6. They showcased all of their incredible talents and have contributed to ending the year in style. We would also like to share our gratitude with the parents who attended and supported the children in making it such a special occasion. As ever, our students have done themselves, their parents and their teachers proud.

Parent Workshop: Coffee Morning & Thank you to Class Links

We would love to invite you to some coffee and treats in honour of the year and also as a way to thank our links for the work they have done to support the classes over the year. In order to ensure we are sustainable and only prepare what can be used, it is very important that we track who will be attending. Please can you complete this form if you will be joining us.

Parent Workshop: Getting Ready for Next Year: Transitioning to a new year group or school.

Worried about the upcoming class shuffles or teacher changes? Join our session to discover practical ways to support your child through these transitions, build their resilience, and use positive framing to ensure a confident, successful start to August. This workshop can be useful whether you are moving to a new school or remaining at BSM.

Join Miss Dellman to look at how, as parents, you can  hold positive conversations with others (particularly your children) where things may be tricky or heated. The session will focus on how to navigate conversations and build agreements. Please click here if you will be attending.

Eid Holidays

The Eid Al Adha holidays have been announced and will be from Tuesday 26 May to Saturday 30 May 2026. BSM follows all national holidays and so we will be closed for these days. Warmer Weather Reminder ☀️

As the temperatures begin to rise and winter is well and truly behind us, we would like to share a few helpful reminders to keep everyone comfortable and healthy during the warmer months. Please ensure your child brings a clean water bottle to school each day. Water bottles, particularly those with straws, should be washed thoroughly every day, as mould can sometimes develop in hard-to-clean areas. We recommend including an ice pack in your child's lunch box to help keep food fresh and safe throughout the school day. As the weather warms up we will be reminding students that jumpers should not be worn outside during transitions between lessons. This helps children stay cool and comfortable while they are active. Thank you for your support in helping us keep our students happy, healthy and ready to learn.

BSM school hours - No change

Please be advised that reports in the media of changes to school hours for the summer do not apply to BSM. We will continue to operate with our normal timings until the end of term. 

Yearbook - Order a printed copy

Order before 21 May

The school’s annual Yearbook is due to be published soon. Printed copies of the yearbook will be handed out to students who have requested one at the end of term. The Yearbook is a wonderful momento which represents the richness of life at BSM.

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we will be sharing the publication as an electronic document once again this year. However, if you would like to receive a printed copy, please could I ask you to complete the form below before 21 May.  and we will ensure a printed copy is passed to your child to take home during the final few days of term.

Parent Workshop: Interactive Coaching Session

Tuesday 19 May at 7:45 am

Miss Dellman will be running an interactive coaching session which focuses on how to hold challenging or tricky conversations with your children in a safe and supportive way. She will be talking about how, collectively as a family, there are some ways in which you can create an environment for conversations and also how to possibly navigate conflict if it arises. Academic Planning: Your Intentions for Next Term 

As we look ahead to the next academic year, we are in the process of planning our classes, staffing, and resources to ensure we provide the best possible experience for all our students. To help us with this planning, we would be very grateful if you could let us know your current intentions regarding your child(ren)’s enrolment for the next term, before Sunday 10 May.

Please complete this form to let us know your intentions for next term. (There is no need to complete this form if your children are currently in Year 13.)

Please note: Completing this form is for internal planning purposes only and will not be taken as formal notice of withdrawal. If you do plan to leave us (we will be very sad to see you go if this is the case) please ensure you complete the formal exit process, which can be found on our website.

World Book Day - Dress Up Day

Monday 4 May 2026

Our theme is The Dark! Throughout our BSM Book Week in March, children explored stories and poems inspired by night-time, shadows, and nocturnal creatures. We have been reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson and The Dark by Lemony Snicket, along with other wonderful night-time books

On our rescheduled World Book Day, on Monday 4 May, everyone is invited to dress up as a word linked to the dark or night, a nocturnal animal, or a character from a favourite night-time story. Outfits such as pyjamas (night time is definitely dark), nocturnal animals, books about night or the dark, black clothes or anything else that could be encompassed are welcome. 

Health Centre

Breakfast is important 

We’ve noticed that some students are arriving at school without having had breakfast or feeling fully prepared for the day. A healthy breakfast and good hydration are really important for children’s focus, energy levels and overall well being throughout the school day. Even something small in the morning can make a big difference to concentration, mood and participation in lessons. We would really appreciate your support in helping children start their day well.

BSM School Fees for 2026 / 2027

Please read this letter (link below) from the Chairman of the Board of Governors detailing the tuition fees for the next academic year. As a not-for-profit school, all income is entirely reinvested in the provision of education at BSM.

Summer Term ECAs

Allocations for next term's activities have been emailed to all parents. ECAs will start on the first day of term, Sunday 19 April, and run until Thursday 25 June 2026. If you have any questions, please see our ECA site.
